The Pandemic Scare
The Pandemic Scare
We want our family always in good health but now there are diseases spreading that scare us.

In the recent years, lots of diseases has already manage to scare a lot of people and up to this days, some of them don’t have any treatment but prevention. Now that Swine flu is here. Will it kills thousands of people too like the previous diseases that it follows.
In some country, the pandemic alert has been raised to that critical level wherein most nearby countries wouldn’t want their people to go in other country. Some people are suggesting that the government should hire more nurses and put some movable quarantine area for doctors to use. Is this the same case in your country?
THIS STARTED out, seemingly, like any other case of influenza in Mexico.
Now, influenza A (H1N1) has escalated into a global pandemic, as declared by the World Health Organization.
Now this has spread to more than 90 countries, infecting almost 50,000 people and taken more than 200 lives.
At Level 6, the highest pandemic alert level by the WHO, the spread of A
(H1N1) is now considered "unstoppable."
As the virus continues to spread, and talks about A (H1N1) occupy discussions, other newly emerging viruses seem to have flown off the radar. In truth, A (H1N1) is only one of several emerging viruses that threaten public health.
World View investigates these other viruses, their origins and what can be done to avert their potentially deadly effects.
In South Africa and Zambia, a newly discovered virus called "Lujo," killed five people just last year. Some experts consider this virus more lethal than A (H1N1), and patients have manifested a much lower rate of recovery.
But like A (H1N1), initially called "swine flu", the "Lujo" virus is also believed to have come from animals. The same is true for several other diseases.
A Public Affairs' resident veterinarian Doc Ferds Recio travels to places where certain viruses are known to exist, and studies their impact on human lives.
According to Doc Ferds Recio investigation sheds light on the need to re-examine the interactions between people and animals, and how humans have greatly affected the natural ecology to give way to the emergence of new diseases.
Pandemic scare raises Tamiflu resistance fear
Anti-viral drug Tamiflu must be used with care to avoid the new strain of swine flu developing resistance, an expert on infectious diseases has warned

Roche says it can deliver Tamiflu anywhere within 24 hours when called on by the World Health Organization.

Though some flu, which is thought to have killed some 50 million people in way back 1918...though people were not aware of the situation before, and yet they could not detect the virus at that time...now, this viruses that pooping like mushroom comes up a solution creating a vaccine but DOES NOT kill the virus. That from people who where experienced that could be pretty alarming with regard to some of the side effects they could get.
This is nice that we must try to prevent this from spreading...total hygiene our body and in our everyday life and community that the first thing we should do...

A lot of that is also to promote drug sales and using us as Ginny pigs, what a perfect way to try new drugs, scare the hell out of every one....
I have yet to hear anything real or serious about this swine flue...i know there is sickness in the air that affects us more than usual, but come on, we are still here.
It is true back in the old days, little was known of what people back then were fighting, and thanks to science, we are more aware of things.
Mind you, there is pros and cons in everything, so an epidemic of diseases spreading around, what a perfect time for the government to make more money....

Yeah i agree on that regarding promoting new drug product...that only preparing people to spend a lot of money on vaccine that could not even kill the virus it self....
I remember a movie that i watch but i forgot the title...though the summary is all about An Air Born Virus that spreads and killed almost the entire population in that movie...the carrier of the virus is a chimpanzee that bought by a native man and bring it in that small village that started the killings.

Good Day Watani, there was already fatal death from this virus way back 1976 Swine Flu Pandemic Scare an outbreak of respiratory disease was identified at Ft. Dix, New Jersey, named Private David Lewis. David Lewis collapsed and died.
The virus caused disease with radiology evidence of pneumonia...in at least 4 soldiers and 1 death; all of these patients had previously been healthy.
Then On 12 February 1976 the CDC influenza laboratory notified the CDC Director that a swine influenza virus strain (H1N1) had been isolated from patients that possessed hemag glutinin and neuraminidase subtypes that had not circulated for more than 50 years -
The H1(swine) N1r virus that was the putative virus of the 1918 Spanish Flu [that turned out not to be the case - the virus implicated in 1918 was probably derived from an avian species of the flu virus].
Experience had led scientists to conclude at that time that introduction of a new strain inevitably resulted in a pandemic. This new flu strain might conceivably become as big a killer as the flu of 1918, the worst ever.

sidd, people die of regular flue and other serious colds, swine flue is not any different, no reason to cause total panic all over the world,...
People die from diseases they catch from not being able to eat, famine all over, where is the panic there? Some place where there should be panic, there is not enough, and where there is little of panic, everybody is in a frenzy?????

Considering the thousands of people the swine flu has infected, the mortality rate is pretty low, and government agencies are taking it seriously (as they should) so I doubt it will amount to much in the long term.
I think the biggest problem is that people are using antibiotics far too frequently so the only diseases and viruses that survive are resistant to any kind of drug we have available. I think the people that distribute these drugs should implement greater control over when and how much they are used because what we have been doing obviously isn't working as well as it should. That being said, no matter what we do there will always be a chance of some new disease that can kill large numbers of people, that is something we will always have to deal with.

Yes though the fact here is we are running out of Anti-viral drugs that the first defenses against the outbreak of an influenza pandemic a lot because the virus is mutating , evolving ...it's pretty alarming with regard to some of the side effects that could experienced.

Sure all kinds of weird flues going around, but I haven't heard anyone dying yet from the swine flue yet ???
For some places it could be a real threat, I don't really know, but I am sure not going to worry about it, when the time comes, I will do what I can to prevent it from spreading, so far I am lucky, just average allergies...
